The quote form is the last thing between a homeowner and a job, and it is usually the part of the site nobody has looked at since it was built. Every field on it costs you people, and most roofing forms are carrying three or four fields that were added because a form felt too short.
What the form is actually for
It is not there to qualify anybody. It is there for the person who cannot ring you right now: at work, on a night shift, with a baby asleep, or simply someone who does not like phoning strangers. That person is a real customer and the form is the only door they have.
So the form's job is to capture enough to ring them back. Everything else can happen in the conversation.
The three fields that are enough
- Name.
- Phone number.
- What is wrong, as a message box.
That is a complete roofing enquiry. Email can sit there as optional. If your plan is to ring them, do not make the email compulsory, because you are then requiring something you are not going to use.
